Supporting Grassroots Football in Great Yarmouth
Great Yarmouth Town Football Club, known locally as The Bloaters, has been awarded a grant from Great Yarmouth Sport & Leisure Trust to purchase new foldable 3v3 football goals.
Founded in 1897, the club has been part of Great Yarmouth’s sporting identity for 125 years. Playing at the Wellesley Recreation Ground, it remains one of Norfolk’s longest-established grassroots football clubs.
One Club, One Voice, One Community
With over 400 members, The Bloaters run:
First and Reserve teams
An U18s side
A Ladies team
14 youth teams from Mini Bloaters (ages 3–6) to U16s
The club’s values of integrity, discipline, respect, effort and ambition, underpin its commitment to inclusive football in Great Yarmouth
Funding 3v3 Football Goals for Young Players
The GWSLT grant will go towards funding eight foldable 3v3 goals, each costing around £70.
The FA is introducing 3v3 football for the youngest age groups (U7/U8 and below), encouraging more touches of the ball and more active involvement for every player.
These new goals will support:
Youth matches
Training sessions
Community football events
Birthday football parties run by qualified coaches
Investing in the Future of Local Football
