The much-loved grassroots football club in Great Yarmouth has secured a Great Yarmouth Sport & Leisure Trust grant to support the day-to-day essentials that keep football thriving at the club, the kind of things that make a big difference on a busy matchday.

Where youth football feels at home
Based at Southtown Common in Gorleston, and ith around 260 members, Shrublands FC is a familiar and friendly home for youth football in Norfolk. It’s where muddy boots are worn with pride, early mornings are worth it, and confidence grows alongside skills.
The club’s focus is simple: create an environment where children and young people can enjoy football, feel supported, and keep coming back week after week.
Small details, big difference
The grant will be used to replace well-used football goal nets across youth and adult pitches. This is a significant upgrade as anyone involved in grassroots football knows that reliable, well-maintained equipment matters.
Fresh nets help keep sessions running smoothly, matches looking sharp, and players safe, for Shrublands teams and visiting clubs alike.
