The Community Impact

The grant awarded to Sunbeams Play will enable them to offer additional, vital physical activities to vulnerable individuals, fostering improved well-being and participation in community life. This initiative aims to bridge gaps in social inclusion through accessible and engaging programs.

The Importance of Sport for Children with Autism

Sport plays a crucial role in supporting the physical and mental well-being of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It helps improve motor skills, coordination, and fitness while also fostering social connections, teamwork, and confidence. However, mainstream sports environments can often feel overwhelming due to sensory sensitivities and social pressures.

Sunbeams Play provides a safe, structured, and understanding setting where children with ASD can experience the benefits of sport without fear of judgement or exclusion. Here, they can engage at their own pace, build friendships, and develop key life skills in an environment tailored to their unique needs.

The New Centre

Scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, Sunbeams' new centre will feature expansive outdoor spaces ideal for a variety of sports and activities. This development is poised to meet the growing demand for inclusive recreational opportunities in Great Yarmouth.

"We are delighted to support Sunbeams Play in their mission to enhance community support for children and young people with autism, through our recent grant. Their new centre will enable them to significantly broaden their impact, providing a safe and inclusive environment for all."
