GYSLT Grant Helps Great Yarmouth Town FCs Expand 3v3 Football

Funding Grassroots Football for the Youngest Players

Great Yarmouth Sport & Leisure Trust has awarded funding to Great Yarmouth Town Football Club, known locally as The Bloaters, to purchase eight foldable 3v3 football goals.

The grant will enable the club to introduce more small-sided football for its youngest age groups, in line with The FA’s rollout of 3v3 football for U7/U8 players and below.

Why 3v3 Football Matters for Young Players

3v3 football is designed to increase:

  • Touches of the ball

  • Player involvement

  • Confidence in early development

  • Enjoyment of the game

By funding eight small-sided goals, GYSLT is helping the club run multiple matches simultaneously, increasing participation and ensuring more children are actively involved rather than waiting on the sidelines.

Removing Barriers to Participation in Norfolk

For families looking for kids football in Great Yarmouth, small-sided formats (3v3 or 4v4 games on a smaller pitch) provide a welcoming and accessible starting point.

The new goals will support:

  • Youth training sessions

  • Match days

  • Informal football activity

  • Community football parties run by qualified coaches

This funding ensures that cost does not limit the club’s ability to provide modern, age-appropriate football opportunities.

Supporting Long-Term Community Impact

Introducing children to football in a positive, engaging environment increases the likelihood of long-term participation in sport.

Emma Plant of Great Yarmouth Sport & Leisure Trust said:

Supporting grassroots clubs like The Bloaters helps ensure young people in Great Yarmouth have access to structured, inclusive opportunities to be active. Small-sided football is an important part of early development, and we’re pleased to support the club in expanding this provision.”“Great Yarmouth Town Football Club, The Bloaters, has been at the heart of our community for over a century. This funding supports their growing youth provision and helps introduce more young people to football in a fun, accessible and age-appropriate way.
