Celebrating a Lift for Great Yarmouth’s Circus & Aerial Arts Club

A well-deserved boost for a much-loved club

We’re delighted to announce that Great Yarmouth’s Circus & Aerial Arts Club has been awarded a Great Yarmouth Sport & Leisure Trust grant. It’s a vital support that will help the team get back on their feet after an unexpected and challenging setback.

The club, which offers circus skills, baby ballet, aerial silks, trapeze and hoop classes, has grown into a vibrant creative hub for around 60 students ranging from toddlers to adults. Their sessions blend artistry, fitness and fun, giving people of all ages a chance to explore movement and discover what their bodies can do.

A Sudden Setback for the Studio: What Happened to the Space

After taking over a new studio lease, the club was dealt a huge blow when the previous leaseholder, due to reasons entirely unrelated to the club, was required to strip the entire unit back to its bare shell. Overnight, the club lost its flooring, mirrors, heating system, alarm and more.

It was a devastating moment for a team that had worked tirelessly to create a safe, welcoming home for its community.

How the GYSLT Grant Helps - Moving Toward a Safe, Warm Studio Again

The GYSLT grant will contribute towards replacing the flooring and heating system. These are two essential elements the club needs to reopen safely and comfortably, especially as the colder months approach.

Classes continue in temporary rented spaces, and equipment remains in storage, but this funding offers a crucial lifeline. Alongside the club’s own fundraising, through sponsored walks, danceathons and a GoFundMe, the grant helps them move one step closer to returning home.

Looking Ahead with Confidence

With a strong community of students, families and instructors rallying behind them, the Circus & Aerial Arts Club is already regaining momentum. This grant is an important step in restoring their space, recovering what’s been lost and returning to the uplifting, creative work they’re known for.

A message to the whole team from the GYSLT is that we can’t wait to see your studio thriving again soon.
