How Circus & Aerial Arts Build Confidence and Community in Great Yarmouth

Rebuilding, recovering and reaching new heights

After receiving support from the Great Yarmouth Sport & Leisure Trust, the Next Gen Circus & Aerial Arts Club is back on track, turning challenges into opportunities. This story shows how the grant is helping the club rebuild their studio, continue classes, and strengthen their vital role in the community.

The funding is contributing to replacing flooring and heating in their studio, a crucial step in ensuring the space is safe, welcoming, and ready for students of all ages to return with confidence.

Helping People Discover Movement, Strength and Confidence

Over the past year and a half, the club has blossomed into a lively space where around 60 students aged from 18 months to adult come together to learn, perform and grow. From aerial silks and trapeze to circus workshops and baby ballet, the club offers something truly unique in Great Yarmouth.

Many students have already progressed beyond the classroom. Some are performing professionally, while others have moved into further education in dance, circus and the performing arts, a testament to the club’s inspiring foundation.

More Than Classes - A Space to Belong

Aerial arts aren’t just about athletic strength; they build resilience, courage and self-belief. Children, young people and adults all benefit from the confidence that comes from learning new skills and embracing challenges.

The club also plays an important role in bringing the community together. Their in-house shows, summer festival performances and local events help create moments of joy and spectacle, all while building self-esteem and strengthening family and community ties.

Why the Grant Matters: Supporting a Safe Return Home

With equipment stored away and classes held in temporary venues, the club’s immediate priority is returning to their own dedicated space. The GYSLT grant helps make that possible, supporting essential work to ensure the studio is safe, warm and ready to welcome students again.

While fundraising continues through sponsored activities and community events, this grant provides stability and momentum to keep the club moving forward.

Looking Forward with Hope

The Circus & Aerial Arts Club has always focused on lifting people up, emotionally, physically and creatively. As they rebuild their studio, their mission stays the same: offering a joyful, inclusive space where people can challenge themselves, make friends and discover new strengths.

With the ongoing support of their community and the help of the GYSLT grant, they’re well on their way back to soaring heights.
